PORRIDGE RECIPE
This is something which is especially great to have for breakfast or as a snack when it is colder and gives you so much energy as well as making you feel warm inside. The great thing with porridge is that you can be so flexible with the toppings and so you can make a bigger amount for 2 and then add the toppings after to suit the person. Whether you like a chopped banana and some honey and peanut butter, chocolate spread or diced apple pieces with cinnamon on top, there is something for everyone.
I have given the basic recipe below so that you can be the judge of what is on top of your porridge, but I would recommend one to two teaspoons of the spread of your choice. I have based it on one person, but double the quantity if you are making for 2 (for example).
Porridge
Equipment
- standard mug
- microwave
Ingredients
- ½ mug oats
- 1 mug milk/oat drink
- 2 tsp jam/spread/topping of choice
Instructions
- Using a standard mug, fill halfway up with oats and tip into a microwaveable tub.
- With the same mug fill to the top with the liquid of choice and add this to the oats.
- Stir briefly with a spoon and place in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
- Stir again and repeat the timing again.
- The porridge should have a thick consistency and you can add to a bowl and add your toppings.
